Directive (EU) 2023/970 · Article 5
Pay range finder
The pay range to publish in a job advertisement, for every role in every entity, taken from the equal-value pay structure. Ranges are full-time base pay, rounded outwards so the published range always contains the real one.
Every grade in this entity
Roles of equal value share a grade, whatever the family. The highlighted bar is the role above.
What sets and moves the pay
- The grade comes from a gender-neutral job evaluation on the four criteria the Directive names: skills, effort, responsibility and working conditions (Article 4).
- The range is the grade's range in the entity: its midpoint follows what large employers pay for the same occupations, from Eurostat's earnings survey.
- The starting point within the range depends on relevant experience, and the move through it on time in the grade and performance against the role's objectives (Article 6).
- Applicants are not asked about their current or past pay (Article 5(2)).
